President Obama used the White House Correspondent’s Dinner speech to poke fun at his own healthcare law as well as some potential 2016 Republican presidential candidates.  He also didn’t hold back in cracking a few jokes about House Republicans.

During a technical glitch, President Obama called on outgoing Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius to “fix” the problem, an obvious jab at the president’s online exchange which saw many technical problems during its late last year.

President Obama ribbed Senator Rand Paul about his support of Cliven Bundy, saying ““I haven’t seen anybody pull a 180 that fast since Rand Paul disinvited that Nevada rancher from this dinner,” Obama said about Bundy. “As a general rule, things don’t end well if your sentence starts, ‘Let me tell you something I know about the negro.’ You don’t really need to hear the rest of it.”

Obama also made a joke about John Boehner’s orange tint, saying “These days House Republicans are giving him a harder time than they give me, which means orange really is the new lack.”  Many in attendance at the dinner said this was the greatest line of the night and received the most laughs from the crowd.

The annual dinner is referred to as Nerd Prom among the DC elite.  It is where politicians, reporters, and celebrities come together to celebrate the work of the media.  In recent years, it has been tradition for the president to attend and give a comical speech.
